New Knifty Knitter Hat
I lucked out and got a used set of Knifty Knitter looms at the Goodwill in Atascadero for $3.25. There were a few extras in there, but the hook you need to use the looms was not in there. So when we went to Beverly's I picked one up for about $1.50. So now I can use the looms to make some new hats. I started one in blue and yellow. Sadly when I opened the plastic carry case everything inside reeked of cigar smoke, so it will need some Fabreze and some time out in the fresh air. There was a bit of red yarn in there that I'll probably just toss and the plastic doesn't grab the fumes as much as yarn does. I didn't really need another project while I'm traveling but I just couldn't resist.

Baby Hat With Nubbins
Last night I started knitting a little yellow hat for my granddaughter Maggie. I didn't want it to get lost in all the other unfinished projects, so I set a goal to finish it today and I did. It's made on four double pointed needles. Figuring out the little nubbins took some doing but I like the way it came out. I wish my granddaughter was here to try it on, or I wish I had a doll to put it on so I could show you how it looks on a head. I still have to weave in the loose ends and take photos of what it looks like when its done, but I've run out of daytime.

Crocheted Jester Hat
I've been working on a new hat. This one will have 3 tubes to put my hair through. It will be an avante guarde jester hat. I think it will go great with my juggling show. So far the colors are dark and light purple, gray, and sapphire blue. I added some ribbon yarn to it tonight to give it a bit more pizazz.
Today I bought 12' of black plastic chain. I had the clerk cut it in half. I'm going to hang a 6' length from 2 corners of my new craft canopy, and using utility clips, hang my knitting and crocheted hats and plushies from it. It eliminates the need to have them on tables, because there is only so much table space you can fit inside a booth. My hats have never sold well, and I think it's because I haven't had a good way to display them, so maybe this will do the trick.

Crochet Hat With Tubes For Braids
I can't remember when I started this hat, but when I found it on my dresser it was about 90% done. So I finished it up and listed it on Etsy and Yardsellr.

Knitted Long Tailed Hat
It's a rainy day and what better way to spend it than knitting a new hat. It has a liripipe on it and I started it on the train last week. It's multicolored, but mostly green and earth tones. I'm making it on double pointed needles. My hands were aching so I only working on it about an hour.

Pillbox Butterfly Hat
I made this pillbox hat a few years ago, and mostly it's sat in a box at the top of my hall closet. But I was making some burlesque costumes for photo shoots and realized my hat was perfect for the one I wore on Halloween. I made it from scratch while I was on a trip. I made the frame out of buckram.
The Paris pin I found recently in a box of jewelry I bought in the '80's. It was the perfect touch I think.

Chicken Hat

I'm almost done with my chicken hat. If I can figure out how to make it, I'll make more for my Carpe Bacon site. http://www.carpebacon.weebly.com

Crocheted Top Hat Project

Last night I started crocheting a freeform hat, not yet sure what shape of hat I was aiming at. I started with a 2 color spiral in bright pink and olive green. Then I went to bed and let my brain work on it. When I got up this morning I made the spiral bigger and realized it would be the perfect flat top for a top hat. I can use the sides to show off the freeform medallions, and then make a brim. How fun!

Purple and Black Slouch Cap
I'm whipping up a cute little purple variegated slouch hat right now. The border (band) will be black. I'm crocheting it during TV commercials. I wish I'd had it yesterday when I was sitting in the bleachers freezing my buns off at an SCA event. Just that morning I had taken my hat out of my purse thinking I wouldn't need it on a nice sunny day. But then a breeze came up and the grass was wet from yesterday's rain and brrrr it got chilly.

Plarn Equals Plastic Yarn
I just added a 'follow me' button. I never realized it didn't have one, but I guess I started this blog before blogger added that feature. That could explain why I never had any followers.
It began raining at 4 AM last night, so I was happy to have a hat to wear when I went to move my truck for the streetsweepers this morning. I want to make an official rain hat out of Plarn. I've been meaning to write a tutorial on that for a while now. Anything to keep those plastic bags out of the landfills. And plarn is free material in my world. Even with switching to tote bags when I shop I still wind up with a lot of plastic bags. And there are still baggers that put everything into plastic first, and then when I say,"Can you put it in the tote bags?", they put plastic bag, groceries and all into the tote bag.
I try to take my totes into every store, like the pet store or the gem fair. Anywhere they might otherwise give me plastic. But a lot of people still feel weird using tote bags anywhere but the grocery store.
I just keep a tote bag in my purse so I have it on hand when I need it.

Back and Forth Hat
I'm crocheting a slouch hat with bright rainbow yarn surrounded by black. It's not a spiral hat but rather one row is done in half double crochet, then the work is turned, and you go back the way you came. That's why I'm calling it a back and forth hat. It reminds me of stained glass and tie dye.

Star Hat
A soft hat in a star design that I made some time ago. I should make some to sell perhaps. This hat has a mind of it's own. But people seem to like it. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. It's quirky like me.

Peggy's Hat
Here is a cool little hat I crocheted for my neighbor Peggy. It has a little ribbon drawstring in case she needs to adjust the size. Remember if you see a hat I've made that you like, I can always make a similar one for you and list it in my etsy shop at http://www.pigglewiggins.etsy.com/.

Hat For a Friend
Last night and today I've been crocheting a hat for my friend Peggy. She lives across from me with a teenage son and two big dogs. Everyone is trying to save on heating costs so a hat really can help you keep the heater turned down more than up. I hope she likes it. I don't know her taste all that well. But I know I wear a hat indoors in my own home whenever I get too cold.

Two New Hats, Orange and Blue
I just finished knitting two hats. The blue one is going to a very special lady back east. The orange one will probably go into my Etsy shop. The orange one I did to bring a little color into a glum day. It reminds me of a creamsicle. It's extra thick with two strands of yarn on the crown. The ribbing is a single strand to make it nice and stretchy.
I've already started working on another hat in a spiral design. I hope I'm in the mood to knit tomorrow so I can finish it.

The Other Two Hats
The gray one is Patron Classic wool and is crocheted. The striped one is acrylic yarn in pink and yellow and is knitted.
Today I found a purple hat I'm knitting as well and did a bit on that. It has to be transferred to smaller double pointed needles because this long circular needle isn't cooperating.
If you find you are fighting with your knitting see if you can change something. Sometimes its the needle size, sometimes you need a different kind of yarn, and sometimes you just need an afternoon nap.

Trio of Hats
Last night I finished 3 hats. Here are photos of the camo hat. I haven't taken photos of the other two as it was dark last night (doh). But I'll go do it today when I have time. The rain has stopped and the lighting is decent.
Two of the hats are knitted. The other one is crocheted (the gray one). I love the rolled brim of the camo hat and started another one straight away. I'm trying to get as many hats as I can finished for a craft event in 2 weeks, but I don't want to injure my hands in the process. So when they start hurting I lay everything aside for a few hours.

Chemo Caps Always Free
If you need one for you or a loved one, email me at Pigglewiggins (at) gmail.com. and let me know your favorite color. Also, do you prefer solids or stripes or anything goes. Make sure you tell me if it's for a child, teen, or adult so I get the size right. And I'll need a complete address to send it to.
And if any of you are in the Anaheim area I also accept donations of yarn and knitting and crocheting supplies, as long as they are from a smoke free environment. That way I can keep the caps coming, and you can get your closet cleaned out of all the yarn Aunt Martha left you. And if you could never figure out that new fangled knitting loom, I'll be happy to have those available too. That way I can put the local teens to work making hats as well.
My mother passed away from lung cancer so this is the least I can do in her memory.
