New Knifty Knitter Hat

I lucked out and got a used set of Knifty Knitter looms at the Goodwill in Atascadero for $3.25. There were a few extras in there, but the hook you need to use the looms was not in there. So when we went to Beverly's I picked one up for about $1.50. So now I can use the looms to make some new hats. I started one in blue and yellow. Sadly when I opened the plastic carry case everything inside reeked of cigar smoke, so it will need some Fabreze and some time out in the fresh air. There was a bit of red yarn in there that I'll probably just toss and the plastic doesn't grab the fumes as much as yarn does. I didn't really need another project while I'm traveling but I just couldn't resist.

Yellow Baby Hat

I finished the baby hat I designed for my granddaughter. I think I'll carry it in my suitcase, and not risk getting it lost in the mail.

Baby Hat With Nubbins

Last night I started knitting a little yellow hat for my granddaughter Maggie. I didn't want it to get lost in all the other unfinished projects, so I set a goal to finish it today and I did. It's made on four double pointed needles. Figuring out the little nubbins took some doing but I like the way it came out. I wish my granddaughter was here to try it on, or I wish I had a doll to put it on so I could show you how it looks on a head. I still have to weave in the loose ends and take photos of what it looks like when its done, but I've run out of daytime.

Crocheted Jester Hat

I've been working on a new hat. This one will have 3 tubes to put my hair through. It will be an avante guarde jester hat. I think it will go great with my juggling show. So far the colors are dark and light purple, gray, and sapphire blue.  I added some ribbon yarn to it tonight to give it a bit more pizazz.

Today I bought 12' of black plastic chain. I had the clerk cut it in half. I'm going to hang a 6' length from 2 corners of my new craft canopy, and using utility clips, hang my knitting and crocheted hats and plushies from it. It eliminates the need to have them on tables, because there is only so much table space you can fit inside a booth. My hats have never sold well, and I think it's because I haven't had a good way to display them, so maybe this will do the trick.

Crochet Hat With Tubes For Braids

I can't remember when I started this hat, but when I found it on my dresser it was about 90% done.  So I finished it up and listed it on Etsy and Yardsellr.

Knitted Long Tailed Hat

It's a rainy day and what better way to spend it than knitting a new hat. It has a liripipe on it and I started it on the train last week.It's multicolored, but mostly green and earth tones. I'm making it on double pointed needles. My hands were aching so I only working on it about an hour.

Professor Sprout Hat

I'm so happy that I sold my witchy hat on Etsy a few days ago. The new owner has already recieved it. She is going to be Professor Sprout at some sort of Harry Potter party. How about that?

I decided to sell the hat because it was too small for me. But now I'll make another bigger one!

Back and Forth Hat

I'm crocheting a slouch hat with bright rainbow yarn surrounded by black. It's not a spiral hat but rather one row is done in half double crochet, then the work is turned, and you go back the way you came. That's why I'm calling it a back and forth hat. It reminds me of stained glass and tie dye.

Star Hat

A soft hat in a star design that I made some time ago. I should make some to sell perhaps. This hat has a mind of it's own. But people seem to like it. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. It's quirky like me.

Peggy's Hat

Hat For a Friend

Last night and today I've been crocheting a hat for my friend Peggy. She lives across from me with a teenage son and two big dogs. Everyone is trying to save on heating costs so a hat really can help you keep the heater turned down more than up. I hope she likes it. I don't know her taste all that well. But I know I wear a hat indoors in my own home whenever I get too cold.

Camo Tam

I love this camo yarn my boyfriend just got me. Ater I finish this tam to sell at an archery event, I want to make a slouch cap out of the same yarn to wear camping this winter. This yarn also comes in solid colors and is 100% wool by Patons.

Right now I'm getting ready to make some slouch hats. Once I visualized in my mind that the shape is the same as a snood, only with a solid fabric instead of a netted one, I realized how easy it will be to make some. It's pretty much the same thing as a bag cap we wore at the Renaissance Faires. Some of the slouch cap patterns I googled up yesterday aren't really baggy at all and look just like beanies. I think they missed the point.

One pattern I read said that these 'slouch hats' would only be in style a few months so make them super big out of wool, so when the trend passes you can shrink them down and felt them to be a normal hat. Evidentally she doesn't know her hat history because this classic style has been around for centuries. When Pete Seeger wore one to the Obama Inaguration, I seriously doubt he was trying to be trendy. Ah well, that's fashionistas for you.

Awhile back I knit this silly spiral hat. I never wear it much because where am I going to wear it, especially in S. California.

But now that I'm doing Silly Sunday Self Portraits I'll get to wear all my goofy hats. Yay hats!

The day got away from me.

I was really jonesing to start a new hat today. I even went to Joanne's Superstore and picked up some black tulle for the hat band. But by the time I got done with the dentist, shopping, banking, and lunch, I just didn't have the energy. My cold is almost gone but I still don't have the energy I did before I got sick. Patience I suppose.
And I totally forgot today was Fat Tuesday. It would have been so totally cool to make a Mardi Gras hat. Oh well, maybe next year.
